چکیده

Results Spontaneous secretion of IL-1b by patients’ PBMC was found to be dramatically increased (80 to 175-fold) compared to controls. Consistently, anakinra initially led to a marked clinical improvement and to a rapid near-normalization of IL-1b secretion. However, a progressive clinical relapse occurred secondarily, associated with an increase in TNF-a secretion, persistent elevated levels of IL-1Ra and IL-6 and a reactivation of IL-1b secretion. Anakinra was discontinued after 14 months of therapy.

Role of interleukin-1β in NLRP12-associated autoinflammatory disorders and resistance to anti-interleukin-1 therapy.

OBJECTIVE A new class of autoinflammatory syndromes called NLRP12-associated disorders (NLRP12AD) has been associated with mutations in NLRP12. Conflicting data on the putative role of NLRP12 in interleukin-1β (IL-1β) signaling have been found in in vitro analyses. This prospective study was undertaken to assess the secretion of IL-1β and 3 IL-1β-induced cytokines (IL-1 receptor antagonist [IL-...

Quality of life changes with canakinumab therapy in adults with colchicine resistant FMF

Introduction Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), the most common form of the hereditary autoinflammatory disorders, is characterized by recurrent attacks of fever along with serosal or synovial inflammation lasting usually 12 to 72 hours. FMF is associated with impaired functional ability, and the persistent disabling features and chronic pain, emotional and physical limitations can have a nega...

Canakinumab for the treatment of different refractory autoinflammatory disorders

Introduction Interleukin-1b (IL-1b) is a powerful pro-inflammatory cytokine synthesized in the inflammasome complex of immune cells in response to injury and infection. The excess activity of this cytokine plays a fundamental role in the pathogenesis of the autoinflammatory disorders. An emphasis on pediatric rheumatology is given to systemiconset juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SoJIA) and perio...

No change of IL-1B in the presence of weight loss and abdominal obesity induced by aerobic training without dietary restrictions in obese women

Background: Obesity is associated with systemic inflammation and related with cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus. In present study, we aimed to assess the influence of aerobic training on pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1B and in obese women. Methods: To achieve this outcome, thirty sedentary obese women (30 ≤ BMI ≤ 36) aged 30 – 40 years of old were randomly assigned to the ex...

O 2: Anti-Inflammatory Approach to Epilepsy Treatment

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurologic diseases around the world and more significantly in Iran (0.4-1 % worldwide and 5% in Iran). Almost one-third of these patients suffer from treatment-resistant epilepsy, which reduces their quality of life by recurring epileptic onsets. There are different approaches for the treatment of both treatment-resistant and treatment-nonresistant epilepsy, ...
